The Script Readers have been encouraging the development of excellent new scripts for since its inception in 2008. We invite submissions of high quality stage, radio and screen plays to be considered for scheduling at one of our monthly readings. Our members are a diverse mix of professional actors, writers and directors. We are based in North East London and hold our readings at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. The readings are cast in advance in consultation with the writer from our pool of professional actors. The readings are not only attended by the actors who have been cast, but by also other members who are available and any industry contacts the writer wishes to invite. After the reading, we have an open discussion of the work which is always a constructive and creative part of the process. The writer has the opportunity to ask for detailed feedback and to discuss our responses to their work. We have been receiving very positive feedback since we began and we are really pleased that some scripts have gone on to have rehearsed readings at The Rosemary Branch Theatre and the Theatre Royal Stratford East. Several writers have submitted further works after hearing one of their scripts read and we are very happy to have ongoing relationships with writers. We are forging new relationships with Theatre Royal Stratford East, Soho Theatre, Stonecrabs Theatre, Oval House & The Finborough and our aim is to continue aiding the development of exciting new writing.
